Two Rwandan Officer Cadets, Blaine Mugisha and Yuhi Cesar, have completed their training at the UK Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, in the graduation ceremony held on Friday, April 11. Rwanda’s High Commissioner to the UK Johnston Busingye, who attended the graduation along with the families of Mugisha and Cesar, congratulated the officers in a post on X on Tuesday, recognizing their achievement and commitment to serve their country. “You are the pride of our country. We wish you all the best luck,” Busingye wrote. Mugisha and Cesar follow in the footsteps of other Rwandan officers who graduated from the British elite school, including Brian Kagame, Ian Kagame, Park Udahemuka, David Nsengiyumva, among others of whom serve in the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). There have been 5,400 international students from 129 countries trained at Sandhurst since 1947, according to its website. The international cadets enrich the course at Sandhurst bringing with them cultural and operational experience from around the world. Students are selected by their own defence organisations and their applications are made to the Ministry of Defence through the Defence Attaché.
